Frequently Asked Questions

While there are hundred's of companies across Southeast Michigan that perform some form of snow services, only a handful have the size, capability, technology, expertise and experience to provide a comprehensive snow and ice management solution that meets the needs of properties like yours. As you evaluate our proposal, I ask that you consider the following questions and determine which type of provider you have.

Does my snow & ice management provider have the capital and relationships to source de-icing materials if there is a market supply shortage during the season (this issue currently exists in Metro Detroit)?

Snow Plow Group purchases millions of pounds of granular rock salt, hundreds-of-thousands of pounds of chemical melt and more than two hundred fifty thousand gallons of liquid de-icing brine each year before the season even starts. We have long term relationships with our suppliers and are always guaranteed access to materials needed to execute our services when smaller companies are locked out of the market at any price.

Is my snow & ice management provider using the latest technology to deploy resources that most efficiently service my property and provide service verification is issues arise?

We have partnered with an industry leading software provider to develop and deploy our service system. Our system combines GPS technology and routing algorithms along with real-time and forecasted weather data to ensure our teams are dispatched timely and efficiently to meet our service promises. Then using onsite cameras and mobile technology, our crews can upload before, during, and after photos including times/GPS stamping to ensure documentation of the services if it's ever needed.

Can my tenants reach my service provider if needed?

SPG has a fully staffed emergency hotline available 24/7 known as our on demand call center. We provide each tenant with an access card that outlines their property id #, snow package contracted and emergency toll free hotline number; allowing instantaneous contact with Snow Plow Group if ever needed.

Does my snow & ice management company have the capability to address ice and snow when temperatures fall below rock salt's effective range of +20F?

Snow Plow Group has one of the most extensive liquid programs in Metro Detroit and has been using liquid programs in Metro Detroit and has been using liquid for more than a decade. We offer onsite storage capability, dedicated brine vehicles (for both parking lots and sidewalks) and multiple brine solutions. Our calcium chloride brine is effective to -25 degrees Fahrenheit, far lower than surface temperatures reach in the region.

Does my snow & ice management provider have commercial insurance that meets my requirements?

At Snow Plow Group we carry all of the necessary commercial insurance packages in excess of statutory requirements:

  •  Automobile Liability: $1,000,000

  • Commercial General Liability: $1,000,000

  • Commercial Umbrella Liability: $4,000,000

  • Workman's Compensation: $1,000,00

Is my snow & ice management provider experienced with my type of property and are they certified in the services they provide?

Our company has more than 30 years in the snow business and each year we provide snow service to tens-of-millions of square feet of retail centers, office buildings, medical facilities, spiritual institutions, housing units, restaurants and industrial complexes. Our operational leadership have obtained the Certified Snow Professional (CSP) designation by the Snow and Ice Management Association (SIMA) and we are consistently ranked among North America's  largest snow providers by Snow Magazine in their annual ranking of the top 100 snow & ice management companies.

Does my snow & ice management provider have the equipment necessary to perform the services I have contracted?

SPG has invested heavily in state-of-the-art equipment and technology. Across our network we have a vast fleet of snow fighting equipment that includes:

  • Late model commercial snow plows (BOSS, Western, and Ebling)

  • Plow trucks (F250, F350, F450, GMC2500, GMC3500, GMC4500, and GMC5500)

  • Skid Loaders (Caterpillar, Gehl, Bobcat, and Case)

  • Wheeled Loaders (Volvo, JCB, Caterpillar and Komatsu)

  • Containment plows (Advantage, Protech, Kage, and Sno-Pusher)

That is just to fight the snow in your parking lots!

On the sidewalks we have:

  • Countless single and double-stage snow thrower (Toro & Cub Cadet)

  • A fleet of BOSS Snowrator sidewalk machines

  • Kubota UTV sidewalk brooms and salters

  • Ventrac SSV

Mix that in with hundreds of good old fashion snow shovels, salt spreaders, and all together we clear millions of square feet of sidewalk each snow event.

When it comes to salting, we primarily rely on dedicated salt and brine trucks that are calibrated to ensure our teams deposit the exact amount of ice-fighting material needed for each individual event and location. At any one time we will have upwards of 30 salt/brine trucks at our customers properties across our service area. This fleet of heavy movers traverse between our client's sites and our 15 satellite locations, ensuring that they are always close to the material they need.

All told we have more than 300 pieces of snow & ice fighting equipment at our disposable to ensure we get the job done quickly and effectively. "Because Winter Requires Serious Professionals".
